The Pause Between Steps

I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to feel like I should have everything figured out by now. But life isn’t a race, and neither is your dream. Even with self-doubt, I keep pushing toward the goal. One foot in front of the other.

They say you have to be a little crazy to run your own business. After doing it for a while, I understand why. Every day brings another challenge and another reminder that the future is uncertain. I do the best I can with what’s in front of me and keep plugging away.

But pushing forward doesn’t mean you have to run nonstop.

This picture reminds me of one of those pauses. Feet up, sunlight coming through the trees. For a minute, there’s nothing to fix or figure out. I can just sit there, breathe, and enjoy those happy little trees.

That pause doesn’t make the hard stuff disappear, but it reminds me I can stop for a minute without giving up.

Anxiety is a bitch. The last few years have taken away a lot of the support I used to lean on, with plenty of hard things in between. Sometimes all I can focus on is breathing and telling myself it will be okay.

I don’t know when the road will get a little easier. I sure look forward to those days. Until then, I’ll keep going—one foot in front of the other, with some pauses in between.
