Jelly came through at 4 a.m.

That strange hour when the world is quiet, your guard is down, and your imagination gets a little more room to move.

I started drawing with no real plan for where it was going. Then this crooked little creature began showing up—big antlers, buck teeth, one eye larger than the other, a scar cutting across his face, and enough personality that I knew almost immediately he wasn’t just another character.

He looked like he had already lived a whole life before I ever put him on the page.

A little beat up.
A little strange.
Still standing.

His name is Jelly the Jackalope™.

I’ve always liked the idea that there might still be things in this world we can’t completely explain. Old stories. Strange creatures. Other realms. Little pieces of magic hiding just outside what we call normal.

Maybe growing up doesn’t have to mean giving all of that up.

Jelly represents that part of me that still believes imagination matters—that being different isn’t something that needs to be corrected, and scars can become part of what makes a character unforgettable.
